Autumn Equinox Embodied Labyrinth Workshops

Autumn Equinox Embodied Labyrinth Workshops

Sunday, September 23, 2018

with Kathryn Bikle, MA, LMFT, Labyrinth Facilitator

Session 1 for Mental Health Professionals   9am-12pm

Session 2 for General Public 1pm-4 pm

LabyrinthatSPYWalking the Labyrinth is an age-old meditative practice for releasing ineffectual habits and attitudes, receiving wisdom from within, and opening to growth. The Autumn Equinox is a powerful time to bring balance and perspective to personal goals. Tapping into the body’s wisdom provides an additional means towards deepening one’s commitment to personal change. Participants will learn a brief history of the Labyrinth as a twelfth century spiritual tool, the relationship between its sacred, symbolic structure and psychological healing, as well as its application for use today as a ritual tool to support change in one’s daily life. Art, journaling, and group processing will be modeled to demonstrate and support working with images from the unconscious to enhance and deepen the needs of the inner self. This workshop is offered at a beginning level and is appropriate for people seeking an experience to deepen their inner work. Participants are encouraged to bring personal journal and to wear loose clothing for movement work and socks to wear on the labyrinth. No prior experience necessary.

  • Participants will be able to identify the 11-circuit Chartres Cathedral Labyrinth image as a symbolic movement meditation tool for psychological and spiritual growth.

  • Participants will be able to name the three primary structural phases inherent in the movement meditation process.
